Neuropsychotherapy (aka, neurocounseling) is an orientation to psychotherapy that incorporates the knowledge of applied neuroscience as an effective way to bridge the gap between brain, mind, body, and behavior.
What is Trauma?
Trauma is any deeply disturbing or proudly distressing experience that completely overwhelms a person’s ability to cope. Trauma can be an overwhelming life experience that kicks a person’s a**. Interpersonal trauma can be understood as any traumatic event that occurs between people. This covers a wide range of trauma, including child abuse, physical, sexual, emotional abuse, cyberbullying, the loss of a loved one, violence within the family, relationship violence, childhood trauma, traumatic grief or separation, divorce, financial abuse, betrayal, community violence, etc.

My background is feminist, solution-focused, and grounded in the idea that the key to interpersonal trauma & PTSD recovery, happiness, and fulfillment involves learning how to harness the power of your brilliant brain! I am informed by holistic brain-based principles that include paying attention to the brain-body-mind connections that may be causing you anxiety, depression, pain, distress, grief, and confusion. I’m here to help facilitate positive outcomes and empower you to gain insight and skills to promote new neural pathways for coping, healing, and growth.
I work from an integrative brain-based approach that incorporates Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Neuro-Rhythmic Trauma Therapy to help you heal from the aftermath of trauma and achieve the goals that mean the most to you. I can help you learn how to manage stressors, incorporate mindfulness & co-regulation, heal your nervous system, set healthy boundaries, deal with relationship issues, navigate life transitions, identify your strengths, and learn how to integrate your experiences, especially traumatic ones, and whatever else it is you need help with. This includes the stories you tell yourself and what your body is trying to say to you.
I honor your individuality and your unique way of connecting with the world while considering the influences of personal history and the larger societal contexts, including the impact of patriarchy and the current state of our pandemic environment.
